The KBFC database provides access to standardized PIT tag data submitted by tribal, state, federal and non-governmental organizations. Membership to KBFC is required to submit and access data, as well as agreement to the Data Sharing Agreement.
To facilitate the exchange of data between the KBFC Database and the data managers who submit these data, a Representational State Transfer (REST) Application Programming Interface (API) is maintained. The links below provide access to the policies, data and metadata standards, and the KBFC Database API.

Fish Data Analytics
Species tracking, marking, and recovery data over time
Marked Fish by Species & Year
Chart Info
Shows the number of fish marked (tagged) each year, broken down by species. Stacked bars show species composition and total marking effort over time.
Recaptured Fish by Species & Year
Chart Info
Displays fish that were recaptured alive after initial marking. This data helps track survival rates and fish movement patterns.
Recovered Fish by Species & Year
Chart Info
Shows fish found deceased after marking. Recovery data provides insights into mortality rates and is important for population assessment studies.
Detections by Year
Chart Info
Total PIT tag detections recorded each year by remote detection arrays throughout the Klamath Basin.

| Lessons Learned from Implementing Electronic Field Data Capture Workflow for the Klamath Basin Fisheries Collaborative using Survey123 and Bluetooth Devices (Version 1.0) | Lessons learned from the KBFC data modernization project consist of challenges and opportunities associated with implementing an electronic field data capture and data exchange workflow across multiple organizations. While the project successfully demonstrated that Survey123, cloud-based data exchange, APIs, and Bluetooth-enabled devices can support the collection and sharing of KBFC data, the effort also highlighted several considerations that should be addressed by organizations implementing similar workflows. | July 2, 2026 |

| KBFC Survey123 Form – MRR Efforts and Records | The MRR (Mark, Recapture or Recovery) Efforts and Records form is used when fish are PIT tagged (i.e., marked), recaptured or recovered. This Esri Survey123 form captures data following KBFC data standards, ensuring seamless integration with the collaborative KBFC database. *Important* - After publishing the survey, copy all media folder contents to the published version's media folder to maintain proper survey functionality. | October 20, 2025 |
| KBFC Survey123 Form – Remote Deployments and Event Log | The Remote Deployments and Event Log form is used to document remote deployment (i.e., PIT tag detection) sites that you manage and significant events at these remote detection sites, such as power outages, equipment failures, or data loss events. This Esri Survey123 form captures data following KBFC data standards, ensuring seamless integration with the collaborative KBFC database. *Important* - After publishing the survey, copy all media folder contents to the published version's media folder to maintain proper survey functionality. | October 20, 2025 |
| KBFC Operating Guidelines Adopted Sept 2025 | The emergence of the Klamath Basin Fisheries Collaborative (hereafter, “KBFC” or the “Collaborative”) reflects an ambitious effort by many partners to monitor and evaluate Klamath River restoration opportunities in the face of an ecological system in crisis and several imperiled fish species requiring Endangered Species Act (ESA) protections. The KBFC is primarily focused on development and use of a common database that will broadly enable data sharing and, by extension, inform fisheries management and ecosystem restoration in the Klamath Basin (Basin). The KBFC adopted these operating guidelines on June 13, 2023 during the 2023 KBFC annual meeting held in Yreka, California to guide their collaborative efforts. The Operating Guidelines have been since updated to reflect the current needs of the KBFC in Sept 2025. | September 1, 2025 |
